Dutch Chouette Scorekeeping
is a handy tool designed to make managing backgammon
chouette games easy and fun.
It helps you keep track of everything,
so you can focus on playing.
As a single, self-contained HTML file, The Scorekeeper requires no installation and can even be saved and run offline.
With The Scorekeeper, you can:
- Easily add and manage players in the game. You can save, load, update and delete sets of players.
- Automatically track scores, player roles (Box, Captain, Team members), and the doubling cube for each player.
- View a detailed Session Log in History to see every action that happened, from cube turns to players taking a break to deals between Box and players.
- Check the Game Summary in History for a clear overview of scores and roles after each game, of all the previous games.
- You can Modify an individual score, cube value and owner and move a player up or down the list.
- Once the last player drops a cube, the game ends automatically, or you tell The Scorekeeper that Box or Team won. You can delete the last game to start over.
- Box can take a Partner and the app splits the plus or minus points equally, with the remainder going to the Box.
- Deals can be made between Box and one or more team members, while showing the value of the cube(s).
- After a Deal between Box and Captain, you must declare the winner.
It's the perfect digital scoresheet for any chouette session, ensuring everything is tracked accurately and fairly.
Rule sets 2025-Sep-09
You can choose between two rule sets: 020 (Amsterdam) and 010 (Rotterdam).
Actually, the only difference is with (010) or without (020) Raccoon.
Common rules
- The winner of Box vs. Captain is Box for the next game.
- The loser of Box vs. Captain goes to the end of the queue.
- Every team member has a cube.
- "No cube, no talk". You can only advice the Captain after you offered the Box a cube.
- "Same value, same action" is a rule for the Box: equal cubes are treated equally.
- Deals are allowed, but only for whole numbers, no decimals.
- The Box can choose a Partner. They act as one and they split the profit or the loss. If their is remainder, the Box takes the +1 or -1.
A Partner can drop cubes when the Box takes them. After the game, Partner Deals the loss with Box (pays 1/2 of the dropped cubes).
Rule set 020, Amsterdam
- Beavers are allowed
- No Raccoons
In Rotterdam, they follow 010
- Beavers are allowed
- Raccoons are allowed
Any settlement between players does not change the roles. "Deals affect stakes, not seats".
Updates
10 Sep '25 v. 0910.1207
- As soon the Captain - Box result is known, the loser's name will be colored red. This makes it clear who will go to the back of the queue.
- A deal is now possible with a score value of 0.
- Once a Deal is confirmed, the involved team players are out of the game.
- When a team member cubes Box, that cube becomes animated, making it clear who's cubes are in.
- When you update a player set, the list of players will be displayed before you confirm the update.
- A rare situation where Box would be displayed with a Partner without Box choosing one has been fixed.
